“Over half the children the colonia of Ramon Perez go to school not having breakfast; numerous others without an adequate breakfast. The feeding center is needed to address this need in a safe environment, where loving people can not only provide a good and sufficient breakfast, but also take interest in the overall success of their education. This benefits the community in numerous ways; First, it fulfills a need that parents aren't in a position to financially provide. Secondly, the center becomes a gathering point for other community activities like medical resources, social events, spiritual wellness, etc. In addition, the center has been constructed in a manner that it provides the greatest protection for the families of the colonia in times of extreme weather conditions like hurricanes.” -Stan Horrell, cofounder of Mission Discovery
